This popcorn is best served as soon as you make it. In a pinch, you can use natural flavored microwave popcorn as a base, but the clean, corny flavor of stovetop popcorn is best.
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne
- ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ¼ teaspoon five-spice powder
- 2 teaspoons (packed) light brown sugar
- 10 cups hot popped popcorn
- Kosher salt
How to Make It
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat and then add the cayenne, paprika, and five-spice powder. Stir and cook until the spices are fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in the sugar it until dissolves.
- Put the hot popcorn in a serving bowl. Drizzle the spiced butter over the popcorn, season with salt, and toss well. Serve immediately.
