Palneni Chushki or stuffed pepper is common among Bulgarians, especially during holidays. The bell peppers are the main ingredients, and they are filled with meat, rice, and other ingredients to make an amazing dish.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground meat (beef, pork or both)
- 8 bell peppers (cored and seeded)
- 2/3 cup rice
- 3 tbsp oil
- 3 onions (chopped)
- ½ bunch parsley (chopped)
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 3 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp dried savory
- Salt
- Black pepper
How to Make It
- Heat up the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Pour oil in a pan and seat. Then, sauté the onions for 2 minutes.
- Put in the ground meat and cook for 5-6 minutes.
- Add the rice. Also add the salt, pepper, paprika and savory to season. Now, pour ½ cup of hot water and leave to cook until the water is sucked in.
- Fill the mixture with the bell pepper.
- Put the black pepper in an oven-proof bowl and pour water till it is half full.
- Cover the content, place it in the oven and cook for 45 minutes.
- Remove the cover and cook for an additional 10 minute or until the peppers are properly cooked.
- Serve (with tomato sauce) and enjoy.
