Ingredients
- 1 kilogram chuck steak, cubed
- 2 packets rich stew mix
- 4 potatoes, cut into chunks
- 1 teaspoon mixed herbs
- 3 carrots, cut into chunks
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 celery stalks, cut into chunks
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 2 onions, chopped
- 2 litres water
- 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 4 tablespoons plain flour
How to Make It
- Into a bowl add flour and meat. Coat the meat in flour and put to one side.
- Place a 9 quart camp oven on hot coals or a gas burner. Add a splash of oil and brown the onion, garlic and mixed herbs. Once the onion is reduced, add in the meat and continue to brown it.
- Once the meat is brown, add all the vegetables and the packet mix, and fill with water to cover. 2 litres should be plenty but you need enough to cover all ingredients.
- Cover and continue to simmer for a couple of hours until vegetables are tender and cooked.
