When it comes to drinks, Christmas truly is the season of indulgence. Whether it’s a steaming mug to take off the chill after a day of shopping or building the perfect snowman, the pure decadence of maple syrup livens up ordinary hot cocoa, sweetening each drink with confectionery sugariness and enhancing aromatics with notes of vanilla and toasted nuts.
Ingredients
- 2 rounded tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- Whipped cream
- Granulated maple sugar
How to Make It
- Combine cocoa powder and salt in your favorite cup. Place milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until it becomes hot, not quite to a boil. Add just a few tablespoons of the hot milk into the cocoa mix, and stir into a smooth paste with a wooden spoon.
- Gradually add the maple syrup and remainder of the milk and continue stirring until fully incorporated. Froth with an immersion blender until creamy and foamy. Top with whipped cream and dust with maple sugar
