Ingredients
- 8 oz (1 x 225 g) pack of angled macaroni
- ¼ cup (60 ml) butter
- ground black pepper to taste
- 2 cups (475 ml) milk
- 1 lb (475 g) grated Cheddar cheese
- ¼ cup (60 g) plain flour

How to Make It
- Bring a large saucepan of water to the boil, then add a couple of pinches of salt. Cook the angled macaroni in the boiling water, stirring often until firm to the bite (al dente) for about 8 minutes. Then drain and set aside.
- Meanwhile, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium hob; fold in the flour and salt and pepper until creamy smooth, for about 6 minutes. Now slowly pour the milk into the flour-butter mixture for about 6 minutes, continuously stirring until the mixture is creamy and bubbling hot.
- Now add the Cheddar cheese to the milk mixture and stir continuously until the cheese is dissolved for about 3 minutes.
- Finally fold the macaroni into the cheese sauce until coated all over and serve hot with optional buttered thick crusty bread.
