Honey Sesame Chicken is one of those better-than-take-out meals that will become a regular part of your weeknight routine. Serve it over steamed broccoli and rice, and finish it off with green onions and a sprinkling of sesame seeds.
Ingredients
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup honey
- ½ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
How to Make It
- Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Label a 1-gallon freezer bag, place it in another large bowl, and pour in the mixture. Squeeze the remaining air out of the bag and seal it. Lay the bag flat to freeze. Serving Day
- Allow the chicken to thaw overnight in the refrigerator. On serving day, pour the mixture into the slow cooker, cover it, and cook on low for 3 hours and 30 minutes. Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred or slice it. Stir the chicken back into the sauce, re-cover, and let everything continue to cook for another 30 minutes.
