Winters were made for chili. The spiciness of any chili is a personal taste, so adjust accordingly. You’ll find the chocolate and beer a very pleasant surprise.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- ½ lb crumbled spicy sausage
- 1 diced onion
- 3 minced garlic cloves
- ½ teaspoons chipotle chili powder
- 1 chopped green bell pepper
- 28 oz diced tomatoes
- 10 oz tomato puree
- 30-oz canned kidney beans, drained
- 15-oz canned black beans, drained
- 1 cup beer
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ½ teaspoons basil
- ½ teaspoons oregano
- 1 tablespoon grated chocolate
- ½ teaspoons cumin
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper
- Dash of hot sauce
How to Make It
- Place the beef, sausage, onion, garlic and chipotle chili powder in a skillet and combine.
- Brown for 8 minutes and drain any grease.
- Transfer the meat to a slow cooker and stir in the remaining ingredients.
- Cook on low for 8 hours.
- Adjust the seasoning and serve with some good cornbread.
